Your first day in Korea: a calmer arrival checklist

A smooth arrival starts with a few small decisions made before you reach the airport exit. Keep the essentials accessible and leave room for plans to change.

Before you leave home

Save your accommodation address in Korean as well as English. Keep a booking reference and an offline copy of the route. Check the arrival instructions published by your airport and accommodation. Entry requirements depend on nationality and circumstances: confirm them through official immigration channels rather than relying on a general blog.

Make one transport decision at a time

Compare the destination and operating hours of the airport train, bus or taxi before paying. The fastest-looking option may not be convenient with luggage or a late arrival. Check current fares and service notices on the operator’s site. We deliberately avoid fixed prices here because routes and fares change.

Keep the first conversation simple

안녕하세요 — Hello. 감사합니다 — Thank you. 여기로 가 주세요 — Please take me here. Show the written destination when speaking to a driver. These are learning examples, not a promise that any particular service will be available.

A small checklist to save

Address in Korean; accommodation contact; a route that matches your arrival time; a way to access maps; payment options; and an offline copy of the essentials. Give yourself time to confirm details instead of planning every minute.
